Nancy Tanner

My home is nothing short of a menagerie; 4 border collies, 2 bunnies, 3 fish, 4 budgies, two children, and one husband that didn’t know this is what he was signing up for. My first paid job with animals was Avalanche SAR training in Utah while on the Ski Patrol. My rookie year was spent buried in the snow pits, playing games with the dogs and conditioning the dogs during the summer months. This type of ‘play with a purpose’ taught me so much about building motivation, having a trusting strong relationship, and responsibility to training. It shaped the way that I train today. I now compete in agility, herding, tricks and MDSA freestyle, rarely will you see me in a snow pit these days! MDSA freestyle has added the creativity I was looking for in a dog sport and is taking me on a great journey with my dogs!

I am a Certified Pet Dog Trainer through CCPDT, a member of the Animal Behavior Society, certified in Wilderness First Aid through WMI of NOLS, and a Professional Dog Trainer through AABP. My company is Paws & People, LLC located in Bozeman Montana were we specialize in; starting puppies, competition training, back country hiking and modifying problem behaviors.
